Testimonial - Jennifer Slatton
Susie attended the second of our three births (so far!), and the fact that I now correspond with her regularly and consider her a dear friend speaks to the relationship we developed over the course of that pregnancy and birth. Were it not for the fact that we live 3000 miles apart, I would certainly invite her to be my midwife for the duration of my childbearing years. There are few people in my life who are as compassionate, empathic, knowledgeable and trustworthy as Susie.
When you are searching for a midwife, you must remember that the person you choose might at some point hold your and your child's life in her hands. While I had no serious difficulties in my pregnancy and birth, I did have a "stalled" labor in which I started to doubt myself and my ability to birth normally. Susie walked me through my fears, knowing that my issues were purely emotional. She knew this because by the time of my birth, she really knew /me/. She helped me see my own strength. This is what a good midwife does; she doesn't take the credit (even if she deserves much of it!), but rather works to help the mother find her own powerful Self during her birthing time.
It is truly difficult to express my respect, fondness and trust of Susie with words. We interviewed many midwives, but my husband and I knew from the moment we met Susie that we were in capable and loving hands. I am still friends with the midwives who assisted at my other births, but Susie stands alone as my favorite. She is a gifted midwife and I consider myself and my family blessed to know her.
